Board Level Planning

Because of our reputation as informed, impartial experts in a wide range of management and policy activities, clients often call upon TS&A’s experienced facilitators to help their organizations build consensus, solve problems, and devise strategies to achieve identified objectives.

This support takes a variety of forms, from sponsoring training sessions to the personal mentoring of client executives; from implementing structured decision support processes to establishing rigorous gate and milestone reviews; from facilitating organizational off-sites to designing and conducting complex business exercises in which new processes are developed and tested. Often such an informed, outside perspective is the most effective way for an organization to efficiently and successfully identify key objectives, develop and implement effective processes, build strong partnerships, facilitate decision making, communicate effectively, and guide the process to a conclusion that is satisfactory, well received, and “owned” by all stakeholders in the process.

Selected Client Success Stories

  • TS&A chairs and acts as Executive Secretary for a major defense prime contractor’s Board of Visitors. The Board is comprised of senior individuals who have served as military flag and general officers, in similar high-level government positions, or as presidents of medium to large companies and associations. The Board meets bimonthly and addresses topics including major present and future program strategies, budgets, time scales, teaming agreements and strategic partners, as well as specific issues assigned by the client. TS&A organizes and coordinates the Board’s meetings, agendas, and follow-up actions, and prepares and presents the Board’s findings and recommendations to the client’s senior executives.

  • A division of a technology company asked TS&A to assess one of its business lines. TS&A found that, due to benign neglect by the line’s current management, the division was losing its role as a market leader. Furthermore, its product development plans did not constructively relate to customer requirements. TS&A quickly worked to identify key milestones and programs and formulate technology strategies to satisfy customer requirements. Then, TS&A personally briefed the client’s customer on the company’s mitigation efforts. The customer was pleased with the innovative technology development plan developed by TS&A, and chose to adopt the plan as its own. This decision directly resulted in a key contract award to the client, which reestablished the client’s division as a leader in its market area.
